Here you will learn about the many facets of videography—and what I do that sets my service apart. As the tag line suggests, there is rarely—I say never—a second chance to capture a special or critical moment, whether a bride and groom starting their lives together, recording a final farewell to a loved one or chronicling the history of a revered family member.
This motto also crosses over into the commercial realm: Capturing information vital to the accuracy and viability of legal proceedings, bringing an organization’s identity and brand to life in its designated marketplace, harnessing the power of video imagery to advance the fund-raising endeavors of charitable organizations; all these represent the core of First Impressions’ passion toward delivering a quality product to those who retain my services.
90% of my work is done as a “single person crew,” or “SPC” for short. This allows me to deliver excellent quality at a fair and competitive price. I shoot high-definition video using professional video cameras and digital SLRs, and have a full compliment of microphones (including several wireless microphone systems), recording and lighting equipment. Should any project go beyond the scope of SPC, I have a database of additional crew members that can be called in for support.
I am also a skilled freelance camera operator/cinematographer/TD working on concerts, meetings, conferences & conventions and incentive travel programs. Equipment proficiency includes Sony, Panasonic, Grass Valley and Canon ENG and cinema-type cameras. Switchers include Grass Valley, Ross and For-A.

First Impressions Video 
I met Terry while volunteering on the production team at Mariners Irvine. As a young person in my mid twenties who is an aspiring filmmaker, I have a LOT of questions and Terry was always patient and thoughtful in answering and directing me to resources.
After bringing me along for an interview shoot, he offered his input should I never need it and so when I had a music video project he was the first person I called. He worked with our incredibly small budget, rented us equipment, and provided mentorship and guidance during the whole process. From stopping in while we were shooting to help us troubleshoot any live issues we were having, to pre/post production consultation meetings where he would walk me through common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
Terry is such a generous, experienced, and amiable man and you definitely will not go wrong choosing to go with First Impressions Video!

In particular, I’m very happy with the different camera angles of the service… You even captured the impromptu moments such as the statue of Bob’s big boy falling! The aerial shots of Mariners church were breathtaking and I had a big smile on my face seeing the way you ended the video of the service with one of the guests giving the “fight on” Trojans sign!
The detail shots of the reception memory table and the food were artfully done. I’m so happy you captured those moments of my grandpa at the reception too.
My mom and I were in tears after watching the slideshow. The songs you paired it with were beautiful and did not distract from the photos at all. We particularly loved how you ended with “I can only imagine”! This brought on the waterworks!

Terry did a great job on a video with my recent trip to Antwerp, Belgium for my business on why we go to Antwerp to buy diamonds for our clients. I took all the photos and short videos and Terry did a fantastic job putting it all together with graphics and logo, great job Terry!
Terry did a great job for us on 2 recent sales we did in the Mesa Verde area. One home was priced at $2,000,000 and the other was at $1,175,000. Terry Wall of First Impressions Video did a video for my website. There were a few spots that needed improvement. Rather than touch up a few spots, Terry shot the whole video over at no extra charge. Then he added a few images that helped to convey my messages. Besides being an excellent photographer, Terry is also a great director. He has the latest equipment to do a truly professional job. Terry has worked with us on a number of projects for the nonprofit organization Working Wardrobes. He took both film and still photography at a special event on Camp Pendleton in March and then helped record several client testimonials and “b-roll” that we will be using in future videos to help spread the message about the work that Working Wardrobes is doing in the community.
Terry is an outstanding human being on all levels. First of all, he provided his professional services to us at a considerable discount from his normal fees. Secondly, as a military veteran, he is particularly sensitive to the work that we are doing with veterans making the difficult transition from military to civilian life and this personal connection truly shines through his work – which is outstanding!

Last year, I asked Terry to edit some footage and still photos into a promotional video for my real estate client. Terry took the media and turned it into four 30-second spots that ran—and are still running—on YouTube. This year, I asked a local videographer to capture updated video footage for a 2014 campaign for the same client. The footage was less than desirable and again I consulted Terry to see if he could turn “lemons into lemonade.” He not only accomplished this, Terry did it under a very tight timeline, making up some of the time we lost when the other videographer was not as punctual as he should have been, getting the footage shot, edited and published.

Terry recently helped my company out on a rush project and delivered us a beautiful series of corporate videos that we’ll be able to showcase for many years to come. We had been coordinating with a video production company to help us produce a series of client and employee testimonial videos that we were going to display at one of the largest industry tradeshows of the year. Unfortunately, part of the project we were planning for fell through, and we had to significantly reduce the scope and budget for the project. When we approached the previous vendor about the change, their revised proposal exceeded our allotted budget by about three times. This happened a week before filming was set to take place. Luckily a former colleague had recently completed a corporate video project with Terry and put us in touch. Terry and I emailed back and forth over the weekend, and by Monday he had offered to not only come in and film on a week’s notice, but his proposal put us under budget on the project.
The day Terry came into film went off without a hitch. We had scheduled a full day of interviews with eleven employees. For many of them, this was their first time in front of the camera, and they were quite nervous. Terry did a great job making each interviewee feel comfortable – offering advice on how to ignore the camera and coaching them through their responses. At wrap, I think everyone felt like Terry was a part of our company family, and we were able to capture natural, authentic testimonials.
The editing and production process was just as smooth. We only had three weeks to complete the videos, and I was nervous about us being able to meet our deadline. Terry went through over 10 hours of footage and delivered the first cut within just a few days. I was amazed by how much great footage we had to choose from; the only hard part came down to choosing what to use. Once I’d provided my selections to Terry, he delivered a close-to-finished product within just a few days. But, anyone who’s ever worked with me will say I’m one of the pickiest people they’ve ever met. Terry never seemed bothered by my weekend and evening emails as we fine-tuned the videos. He even coordinated with our overseas graphic designer to make sure all the graphic elements were perfect.
If it hadn’t been for Terry, I don’t believe this project would have gotten done, and I don’t think we would have received the same quality of work from anyone else (especially considering the timeline). The final videos are absolutely stunning. I look forward to working with Terry on many future projects and am happy to serve as a reference for him. One of our friends asked Terry to video tape our son’s memorial service and we are very happy they did. That day we were all in such a surreal emotional fog – not really aware of much of anything that was happening around us.
We were so pleased when he presented us with the DVD of the service. It might seem weird but we are now able to look back and feel the outpouring of love toward our son and our family. We would not have remembered any of that without being able to view the DVD later. Until seeing the DVD, all we remembered was being sad.
I don’t even recall seeing Terry at the service. He was very discrete and he edited the DVD in a thoughtful and professional manner.
I am so grateful to have that DVD and blessed that Terry was there that day for me and my family.
