I recently acquired a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera to supplement the hi-def camcorder that I’ve had for a while. It’s a beautiful piece of gear and allows for shallow depth-of-field shooting that provides incredibly romantic imagery—ideal for weddings!
One of the amusing drawbacks of using the DSLR is that people see you working and often think you’re shooting still pictures instead of video, and they’ll attempt to stop you and ask if you’ll take a photo! Awkward to be sure, but my DSLR actually allows me to shoot stills at the same time video is being recorded!
So if I can accommodate the request without disrupting what I’m really doing, why not? And who knows…that next kind gesture could turn into a referral, or another job outright!
